Hobbite Ultra-Thin Beamsplitter Plate
The Hobbite Ultra-Thin Beamsplitter Plate is a high-performance component specifically designed for miniature optical systems. With its ultra-thin structure (0.2–2 mm) and high-precision ion beam coating technology, it maintains very low wavefront distortion and high stability in the separation of reflected and transmitted optical paths. This series of products is widely used in laser measurement, imaging inspection, optical communication, and scientific research instruments, and is one of the indispensable precision optical components in high-precision optical structures.
Feature
- Ultra-thin structure: 80% less thickness than ordinary models, effectively reducing optical path offset and system weight.
- High optical stability: spectral ratio deviation of ≤ ±2% and spectral uniformity of ±1%.
- High laser resistance: ion beam sputtering film with a damage threshold of >10 J/cm² @1064 nm.
- Non-polarized design: suitable for high-precision polarization-sensitive systems (NPBS structure).
- Multi-band optional: It can cover the UV, VIS, and NIR bands to achieve light source compatibility.
- Customizable: Hobbite offers design support for custom optical components, including thickness, angle, and coating structure customization.

Working principle and structure
Ultra-Thin Beamsplitter Plates separate the reflection and transmission of the beam by depositing a partial reflective film on the surface of an optical substrate (such as BK7 or fused silica). Its typical structure is:
AR coating / optical substrate / spectroscopic coating / AR coating
This symmetrical design significantly reduces interference fringes and polarization dependence while maintaining excellent flatness (λ/10) and high transmission efficiency, making it a key optical lens design component in the optical path design of compact systems.
Materials & Manufacturing
- Optical materials: BK7, fused silica, sapphire, etc.
- Manufacturing process: Ion beam sputtering (IBS) or electron beam evaporation technology is used, and the film layer stability is high; grinding and polishing accuracy up to λ/10.
- Coating characteristics: Dielectric multilayer coating, low absorption, and low scattering.
- Customization Capabilities: Hobbite supports special band, angular incidence, and shape designs, making it a flexible manufacturer among leading optics companies.

Design Considerations
- Thickness and mechanical rigidity: The ultra-thin design needs to take into account the stability of installation, and the card slot fixing method is recommended.
- Band-to-spectral ratio: Choose the film system optimization scheme according to the wavelength of the light source.
- Polarization dependent: Optional non-polarized membrane design (NPBS).
- Environmental adaptability: The dielectric film layer adapts to high-humidity and high-temperature environments.
- System Compatibility: Can be combined with other Precision Optical components to optimize overall optical path performance.
