Micro High Power Polarizing Beam Splitter Cube

The polarizing beam splitter cube is designed with precision for high-power lasers that split the incoming light into transmitted (P-light) and reflected light (S-light), depending on the state of polarization. This element plays a very important role in high-energy laser path control, power monitoring, optical modulation, and interferometry.

Features

  • High power tolerance: Laser damage threshold ≥10 J/cm²@10ns
  • High polarization contrast:P light transmittance >98%, S light reflectance >99.5%
  • High optical accuracy: Surface flatness λ/[email protected] nm parallelism ≤3″
  • Stable structure: Cube bonding structure, optical path without offset, stable
  • Multi-wavelength options:532nm, 633nm, 780nm, 808nm, 1064nm, 1550nm

Hobbite offers a wide range of polarizing beam splitter cubes for various applications, such as laser processing, spectroscopic instruments, scientific research experiments, and communication modules with excellent polarization separation performance, thermal stability, and mechanical reliability by using high-precision optical substrates and low-absorption dielectric film systems.

Working Principle & Structure

The PBS cube consists of two right-angled prisms plated with a multi-layer dielectric polarized spectroscopic film on the glued interface. When light is at perpendicular incidence:

  • P-polarized light transmits almost completely.
  • S-polarized light is reflected 90°.

This principle, based on polarization-selective reflection, enables efficient light spectroscopy and energy distribution. IBS layers can maintain low absorption and high stability at high power conditions. The cube structure can effectively avoid the optical axis offset and ensure the stability of the system during long-term operation.

Design Considerations

  • Wavelength matching: The coating should correspond strictly to the operating wavelength of the system
  • Angle of Incidence Control: Usually 0°; deviations may affect spectroscopic performance
  • Polarization dependence: Polarization-sensitive systems need an explicit choice of the polarizing beam splitter cube type
  • Coating durability: IBS coatings are recommended for high-power applications
  • Thermal stability: The material requires a low coefficient of thermal expansion
  • Surface Cleanliness: Scattering and absorption damage due to contaminants or scratches
